What You're Signing Up For

If you’ve never hired someone for your website or marketing, it’s normal to wonder what you’re signing up for. Who do you talk to? What do you have to do? When do you pay? This page answers those questions before you ever reach out, so the first conversation can be about your business instead of the process.

The short version: you talk to me directly, we agree on what’s being done and what it costs before anything starts, and I keep you informed the whole way through.

1. Discovery Call

A short conversation by Zoom, with no obligation. If you’re in the Raleigh area and would rather meet in person, that works too. I’ll ask about your business, what’s frustrating you right now, and what you’d like to be different. You don’t need to prepare anything.

What you get: an honest read on whether I’m the right fit and what you actually need, even if that turns out to be something smaller than you expected. If I’m not the right fit, I’ll say so.

2. Proposal & Agreement

After the call, you’ll get a written proposal covering what’s included, what isn’t, the timeline, and the price. No vague estimates and no surprises later. If something changes midway through, we talk about it before it affects your cost. Once you’re comfortable, we sign a simple service agreement so we’re both clear on expectations before work begins. For larger projects, flexible payment options are available. Just ask.

What you get: clear scope and pricing in writing before you commit to anything.

3. Kickoff & Build

Once the agreement is signed, we have a short kickoff call to confirm the details, collect what I need from you, and set expectations for how we’ll work together. Then I get to work: designing, writing, building, and preparing everything for your review. You’ll see progress before anything goes live. You review, give feedback, and I make adjustments until it’s right. For print projects, you approve a proof before anything goes to production.

What you get: a project that moves forward without you having to chase updates, and nothing goes live without your approval.

4. Launch & Ongoing

When everything’s approved, your project goes live. For websites, that usually means moving into a hosting and management plan so your site stays secure, backed up, and current, handled by the same person who built it. If you’d rather handle it yourself or host elsewhere, you own your website and that’s your call. From here, support is an email or message away, not a ticket queue.

What you get: a site that stays healthy after launch, and one person who knows your business when something comes up.

How Long Does It Take?

It depends on scope, and I’ll give you a realistic timeline in your proposal rather than a number that sounds good on a website. As a general guide:

Timelines also depend on how quickly feedback and content come back, which is why the next section matters.

What I'll Need From You

Less than you might think. Typically:

If you’re missing any of this, that’s fine. Most clients are. We work through it together.

How We'll Communicate

You work directly with me, always. No account managers, no handoffs, and no having to repeat yourself. I’ll keep you updated proactively so you’re not left wondering where things stand, and I use plain language rather than technical jargon. If I need a decision from you, I’ll tell you what the options are and what I’d recommend. Email, text, and Zoom all work. Use whichever is easiest for you.

Not Starting From Scratch?

Not every project begins with a brand-new website. The same basic steps apply, adjusted to fit what you need.

You already have a website

I can review it, tell you what’s worth keeping, and either improve it or take over its hosting and management.

You just need print materials

Consultation, design or file preparation, proof approval, production, and delivery.

You want to be found more easily

SEO and AI search visibility starts with a look at where you stand today and what’s realistic.

You're not sure

That’s what the Discovery Call is for. No brief or budget needed.

Common Questions

No. The Discovery Call is a conversation, not a sales pitch. There’s no obligation, and you’ll never be pressured to sign anything.

Payment terms are laid out in your written proposal before you agree to anything, so you’ll know exactly what to expect. For larger projects, flexible payment options are available.

Yes. You’ll receive scope and pricing in writing in your proposal. If the scope changes during the project, we’ll talk about it before it affects your cost.

Yes. Nothing launches without your review and approval.

Most of the process happens by Zoom and email, so location doesn’t get in the way. I work with clients in Raleigh, Central Florida, and beyond.
